Feeling Blue?

One of my favorite things about Interior Design is how design styles recycle themselves.  I also love how a designer can be a chameleon and change their aesthetic to fit their clients needs as they happen.

However, currently, there is one look that keeps creeping into my head and gives me that super happy feeling.  That look is deep, dark navy blue walls. Mixed with crisp whites and metallics, this color can feel as light and airy as the palest blue on your paint fan.

Here is a perfect example. See the lovely light wood floors and the white walls in the adjacent room?  It creates such contrast, which is the name of the game!

Here is another great example. See all the white trim and white cabinets?  They offset the walls and the blue becomes just an accent.  Don't be afraid of dark colors!

One more image, just for fun!  See how they have styled the wall with several art pieces?  Museums use this same deep wall color technique to make the art pop!  If you have a collection of art you want to display together, a deep wall color is a great way to unify them all.

If you have a deep blue color somewhere in your home, I'd love to hear about it!

Cheers!  -Vee
